Former Los Angeles Mayor Richard J. Riordan has died

Riordan, who was LA’s last Republican mayor, was elected in 1993 and served until 2001. The LA Times credits him with helping L.A. get back on its feet following the 1992 riots” and managing the city’s recovery after the Northridge earthquake. Riordan died last night (WEDS) surrounded by family,  friends and his beloved dogs. He is survived by  his wife, three children, three grandchildren and a sister. Richard Riordan was 92 years old.
