(New York, NY) — The New York Philharmonic has a new Music Director. Acclaimed conductor Gustavo Dudamel will take over the NY Philharmonic starting in 2026, having been at the helm of the LA Philharmonic since 2009. The hiring of the Venezuelan superstar maestro is considered a massive win for the New York City orchestra, and he has frequently drawn comparisons to famed NY conductor Leonard Bernstein. Dudamel says he’s filled with joy and excitement for the world that lies ahead, but feels pride and love for the world he’s shared and will continue to share with his dear Angelenos for the next three seasons before heading east
