Brazil Soccer Star Pele Dies
(Sao Paulo, Brazil) — International soccer star Pele is dead at the age of 82. He died after being hospitalized due to cancer. Pele is considered by many to be the greatest soccer player in history, claiming more than one-thousand goals. The forward won his first World Cup at age 17 and would do so two more times, the only player with such a trophy count. Pele also popularized the bicycle kick, in which a player throws himself backward to kick a ball behind him.
Pele’s Daughter Posts Tribute To Late Father
(Sao Paulo, Brazil) — The daughter of international soccer legend Pele is remembering her late father. Kely Nascimento posted a picture on her Instagram page showing hands of family members placed on top of Pele’s while in his hospital bed. In Portuguese she wrote, “Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in Peace.” The three-time World Cup winner died at the age of 82 Thursday. He had recently been hospitalized due to his battle with cancer.
