(Pittsburgh, PA) — The president of the Pittsburgh Steelers says Franco Harris “brought joy to people on and off the field.” Art Rooney the Second issued a statement following the death of the Steelers great. Rooney recalled Harris’ impact on the city of Pittsburgh, saying “he never stopped giving back in so many ways.” Harris died just days before the Steelers were set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his Immaculate Reception play that gave the team its first ever playoff win. The team also planned on retiring Harris’ number 32 during halftime of its game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
