Update
Police say two people have been arrested in connection with the theft of two guns from the home of mayoral candidate and Congresswoman Karen Bass.
The two were arrested after officers matched their vehicle to one that was at the scene of the theft Friday. Patricio Munoz, who’s being held on a 600-thousand dollar bond and Juan Espinoza, who’s being held without bond are facing a residential burglary charge. Bass’s Baldwin Vista home was broken into on Friday, and though cash, electronics and other valuables were left behind, they allegedly stole the two guns in a lock box stashed in her closet. Bass says the guns were registered.
CA Congresswoman Home Broken Into, Items Stolen
(Los Angeles, CA) — A California congresswoman is reporting her home was broken into over the weekend. Representative Karen Bass came home late Friday and found her Los Angeles residence had been forcibly entered and burglarized. She told police the thieves stole two firearms which had been safely locked away. No cash, electronics, or other valuables were taken from the home. Bass called the crime “unnerving” and said “unfortunately, it’s something that far too many Angelenos have faced.” According to the LAPD, the city has seen a 15-percent increase in the number of burglaries since the same time last year. Bass is typically rated at the bottom of all Congressmen by pro-Second Amendment groups and has failed to oppose the ‘defund the Police’ movement.
The search is now on for a man who stole two firearms from the home of Los Angeles mayoral candidate and U.S. Representative Karen Bass. The burglary reportedly occurred sometime Friday night. The 68-year-old L.A. Democrat said in a statement the stolen firearms were “safely and securely stored.” Bass also said money, electrical equipment and other valuables were not taken from her home. The LAPD is now looking into the incident. The suspect is described as an Hispanic male, about five-foot-nine and weighs around 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark clothing, a surgical mask and blue baseball cap and black sneakers. Bass is running for mayor against billionaire real estate developer Rick Caruso.
