The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday served multiple search warrants connected to Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl. Sheriff’s officials say it’s a public corruption probe involving the veteran politician. The search also targeted the L.A. Metro office and county offices. Kuehl tells FOX11 that County Inspector General Max Huntsman tipped off the county’s lawyer that the search was coming. The County’s attorney then told Kuehl. She also says that the L.A. Times informed her of a search several days earlier. Kuehl says the search is over an accusation that she helped get a friend a contract with L-A Metro. Kuehl denies helping with that deal. Her friend, Patricia Giggans runs a nonprofit called Peace Over Violence. Giggans is also a member of the Civilian Oversight Commission that’s currently investigating the sheriff. They’re looking into alleged deputy gangs in the Sheriff’s department. Kuehl has frequently clashed with Sheriff Alex Villanueva and called for his resignation. Villanueva has gone to court over the alleged tip off to Kuehl.
Supe Kuehl’s home, office raided by Sheriff’s Department. Kuehl says she was tipped off. Oh-oh.
