Proposal Calls For San Bernardino County Becoming its Own State

(San Bernardino, CA) — A new proposal calls for San Bernardino County breaking away from California and becoming its own state. Real estate developer Jeff Barum made the proposal at this week’s San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors meeting. He says lawmakers in Sacramento aren’t supporting the county on issues like housing and homelessness, and it’s time for a major change. Barum wants the board of supervisors to put the proposal on the November ballot. Of course the rest of the United States would have to want to have San Bernardino as a state– the County can’t just say ‘we identify as a state’.
