(Washington, DC) — A bill that would require all U.S. Postal Service vehicles to have air conditioning has been reintroduced in Congress. The bill was put forward by California Democratic Congressman Tony Cardenas following the death of a mail carrier in the Los Angeles area in 2018. Sixty-three-year-old Peggy Frank was found dead in her truck, which didn’t have air conditioning on a 117-degree day. Frank died of heat exhaustion.
