(San Diego, CA) — The number of migrants trying to cross the U.S.- Mexico is reaching its highest level in 20 years. U.S. Customs and Border Protection says agents stopped migrants from crossing the border more than 221-thousand times during the month of March. They say that was an increase of 33-percent from February. The agency has reported the number of migrant encounters going up nearly every month since President Biden took office. The latest increase comes as immigration officials beef up staffing at the border in anticipation of the lifting of Title 42 order that allowed agents to quickly expel asylum seekers during the pandemic.
