(Los Angeles, CA) — Southern California’s animal rescue organizations are urging people to avoid buying or adopting bunnies as Easter gifts for children. Officials at the Los Angeles Rabbit Foundation say — what starts as a well-meaning gesture — often leads to abandoned bunnies after the novelty wears off. Families also realize quickly they aren’t equipped to properly care for the prey animals. The foundation advises Southland residents to buy chocolate bunnies instead.
