The waste is criminal: LA building homeless palaces that cost $800,000, with YOUR MONEY

(Los Angeles, CA) — A homeless housing program in Los Angeles appears unable to meet the demands of the city’s homeless crisis. City Controller Ron Galperin says the pace of development is too slow, while the cost of each housing unit continues to rise. The audit finds that 14-percent of the units built exceeded 700-thousand each and a project in the works is expected to cost over 800-thousand dollars. Galperin proposes innovative financing and getting rid of the red tape so developers can quickly gather funding to speed up construction. So far, 12-hundred units have been built. The 1.2-billion dollar program is expected to build more than 10-thousand units by 2026.
