(Sacramento, CA) — It will be at least two more weeks before California lifts the mask mandate in schools. There is widespread suspicion that the California Teachers Union is behind keeping your kids in masks. Dr. Mark Ghaly, the State Secretary of Health and Human Services, was asked about the teachers pressuring the department, which lead to this uncomfortable exchange:

The overall mask rules in California end Tuesday, moving to a strong recommendation, but Dr. Ghaly, who unlike the LA County Director of the Dept of public Health, is a medical doctor, says other mask mandates, including schools, will remain. With case numbers falling 75-percent in California over the last month, on February 28th, the State will re-evaluate the mask mandate in schools, with Dr. Ghaly saying that’s when they anticipate making the change in California schools. Later this week, the State will release its overall plan for moving from a pandemic to an endemic version of the virus.
