(Venice Beach, CA) — Venice Beach residents are holding Los Angeles officals accountable over homeless encampment safety concerns. An attorney for the Venice Stakeholders Association wrote to several city leaders that residents are concerned campfires could cause damage their property or even cause death. This comes after two homeless men allegedly lit 15 trashcans and a park bench on fire last week. Residents are nervous to see a repeat of last year when an unoccupied two-story building was destroyed following a fire at a homeless encampment. Bonin is not seeking reelection citing health issues and at least tangentially blaming talkradio for his condition.
