Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti Reacts to COVID Surge While India Ambassadorship Is Up In Air

(Los Angeles, CA) — Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is reacting to the surge of COVID-19 cases and the rise of the Omicron variant, which is not accompanied by a surge in deaths (see NY Times chart below). Yesterday Garcetti urged Angelenos to get vaccinated, get booster shots, and get tested. He added that this winter surge is different from last year’s.

Los Angeles County has reported more than three-thousand new cases of COVID-19 each of the past five days. A week ago, the daily count was closer to one thousand.

Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti says the best way to keep yourself and your loved ones healthy, is to do the right thing. Even with a surge in Biden ambassador confirmations (another failed blue-city Mayor, Rahm Emanuel, will be ambassador to Japan) Garcetti is still waiting to see if he gets to move to India.

The Mayor adds that everyone should do their part.
