L.A.’s Cecil Hotel To Become “Affordable Housing” For “Unhoused”- And It Is Still Creepy

(Los Angeles, CA) — The Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles in set to become affordable housing. The historic property has long attracted public attention for its sordid past, which includes the mysterious disappearance of Elisa Lam, as well as a series of suicides, deaths and other bizarre events over it’s nearly century-long history. The Cecil was also the inspiration for the “Hotel” season of the TV series “American Horror Story.” The Skid Row Housing Trust held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday to celebration the building’s transformation into affordable housing for 600 homeless and housing insecure people. The redevelopment was a “bold and creative” move to make a dent in the city’s homelessness crisis. The Cecil has been profiled on TV numerous times.
