(Los Angeles, CA) — Los Angeles Unified School District officials are announcing that Alberto Carvalho is their pick for superintendent. Carvalho has led Miami-Dade County Public Schools since 2008 and is considered one of the nation’s most admired district leaders. The Board of Education made the announcement after weeks of closed sessions to interview and deliberate over candidates. By coming to L.A., Carvalho is moving from heading the fourth largest K-12 public school system in the country to the second-largest.
