(San Francisco, CA) — One emboldened San Francisco shoplifter is saying that “stealing is easy” in retail establishments with lax security. The man admitted to his crimes during a news interview regarding a local Safeway that was ramping up security due to a massive shoplifting issue. The store added security guards, gates, barriers to self-checkout areas and closed off a side exit. The increased security measures come after a trend in retail thefts has escalated in recent weeks. In one of the most high-profile cases, 80 people stormed a Nordstrom 25 miles outside the city and walked away with approximately 125-thousand dollars in stolen items.
