New Data Suggests Nearly One In 40 Kids Affected By Autism

(Washington, DC) — New data released by the CDC is showing that nearly one in 40 U.S. children are affected by autism. Data collected from 2018 shows that two-point-three percent of eight-year-old children fall on the autism spectrum compared to previous data that put the figure closer to one-point-nine percent. The CDC explained that higher rates of diagnosis are believed to be a result of improvements in identifying the disorder in children. The data came from communities across 11 different states. The CDC also said that differences in rates between communities could be due to a lack of resources to obtain an early diagnosis.
