Senator Cruz Applauds Actions of Women’s Tennis Association

(Houston, TX) — Republican Senator Ted Cruz is applauding the actions of the Women’s Tennis Association in the wake of Peng Shuai’s disappearance.

The Chinese sports star reportedly had dinner with her coach and friends November 20th in Beijing after being missing for weeks following her sexual assault claim against an official. On CBS' Face the Nation, Cruz condemned China for "trying to pretend everything is okay" and praised the Women's Tennis Association for "standing up" to the Chinese Government. He applauded the group's willingness to cancel matches and take a financial hit to protect their players. As for the upcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Cruz said he hopes the U.S. kicks their "commie" backsides.
