(San Francisco, CA) — Two infectious disease doctors in San Francisco say it’s time for detailed guidance on school mask mandates. Doctors Jeanne Noble and Monica Gandhi from U.C. San Francisco both want the state’s top health official to give the public “insight into what numbers” the state is using to keep or drop mask mandates. Now that vaccinations are available for kids 5-11-years-old, both Noble and Gandhi say it’s time for California to offer clear guidelines and metrics for when students can ditch their masks. They note the information would provide incentives to parents to get their kids vaccinated against COVID-19.
