Biden economic adviser Brian Deese was pressed on CNN’s State of the Union whether President Biden’s “Build Back Better” spending plan will actually help ease inflation. Deese said there are a number of things the administration can do now to combat inflation, but claimed the social spending plan is the ultimate fix. On CBS’s Face the Nation, Janet Yellen says it will likely continue well into 2022, adding it really depends on the pandemic. Yellen says continuing to make progress against COVID-19 will bring inflation down. The head of the Treasury predicted prices could get back to normal levels by next summer if the U.S. succeeds in handling the pandemic.
