The threatening phone call happened in January, and the federal indictment came back in May, but a California man accused of making death threats to Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz was only arrested last week. Authorities say Eugene Huelsman, of Thousand Oaks, called Gaetz’s office January 9 to threaten the Florida lawmaker. “Tell [M.G.] to watch his back, tell him to watch his children,” Huelsman said, according to the indictment. “I’m coming for him, he’s gonna f—king die…I’m gonna f—king kill him…Watch your back, I’m coming for you. I’m gonna put a bullet in you and I’m gonna put a bullet in one of your f—king kids too.”The arrest came within a day or two of Gaetz taking to the House floor, complaining that the Justice Department wasn’t being aggressive enough in dealing with the death threats against him. Huelsman, a long-time camera operator for CNN, ABC, NBC, and others, has been charged with one felony count of making a threat to injure. He’s expected to make his initial appearance in a Pensacola federal court October 29.
