(Sacramento, CA) — Governor Gavin Newsom issues an executive order to ease the bottlenecks in the supply chain that business leader rip as not enough. Ag Council President Emily Rooney and others in a statement said: “There are additional real, tangible actions the governor could take to meet the moment and tackle this crisis head-on, but convening taskforces in 2022, delaying urgent actions for at least a month, and pushing funding discussions to the January budget proposal do not provide the sense of urgency needed to address this crisis now,” (read the story below). Newsom is directing the Office of Business and Economic Development to meet with a wide variety of “stakeholders along the supply chain” to find solutions to the disruptions in goods. In the short term, Newsom is asking agencies to find state-owned properties where cargo can be stored. The California Business Roundtable says the Governor needs to declare a state of emergency to temporarily halt labor law protections until the flow of goods is “normalized.”
