Google Maps, Flights Helps To Track Carbon Footprint
(Mountain View, CA) — Google is out with a new tool to help you track your carbon emissions. The new feature on Google Maps and Google Flights will help users find the most eco-friendly routes to their destination. Flights will display a carbon emissions estimate and flights with significantly lower emissions will be labeled with a green badge. Meantime, Google Maps will now show the most fuel efficient route by marking it with a green leaf. The new bike feature gives cyclists “lite navigation” that shows them details about their trip, including change in elevation. The tech giant uses data from the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
