It’s designed to prevent infections where an individual has symptoms and the company wants an emergency use authorization. The British pharmaceutical giant previously said it would be used on those who may not benefit as much from a vaccine. AstraZeneca’s vaccine is approved for use in other countries, but not in the U.S.
