Post Office promising slower–Yes, SLOWER–mail service

(New York, NY) — Americans are sharing their thoughts as word comes down that mail delivery is about to get slower. Many say while the postal service isn’t that important to their everyday lives, others note how vital the service is for companies like Amazon. As of yesterday, the U.S. Postal Service is beginning what it calls “new service standards for First Class Mail and Periodicals.” The slowdown will affect mail traveling long distances, such as between the East Coast and the West Coast.

Single-piece first class mail within the same region will still have a delivery time of two days. The changes are part of the ten-year strategic plan Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced in March. The plan is ostensibly aimed at addressing financial problems the Postal Service has had for years.
