(Los Angeles, CA) — The nation’s largest prosecutor’s office is moving to dismiss roughly 60-thousand marijuana convictions. L.A. County District Attorney George Gascón announced today this is the latest step to provide “thousands of disenfranchised people” with “long-needed relief.” Under the previous D.A., the office moved last year to get rid of 66-thousand marijuana convictions that took place before voters passed Proposition 64, the law legalizing recreational marijuana use in the state. Gascón said his office was able to identify tens of thousands more eligible cases by combing through L.A. County court records.
