Utility Faces Criminal Charges

(Shasta County, CA) — A Northern California prosecutor is filing criminal charges against PG&E. Shasta County District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett today announced 31 charges, including eleven felonies, in connection with the Zogg Fire of 2020 that killed four people. Cal Fire stated earlier this year the cause of that fire was a pine tree that fell into power lines owned by PG&E. On Friday, Bridgett stated that PG&E “had a duty” to remove the tree that caused the fire and in her words, the utility was “reckless and criminally negligent.”
