Recall Gascon Campaign to Refile and Restart Petition Gathering Process, 160 Day Deadline Will Reset Victims form new recall committee to double down on recalling Gascon

(LOS ANGELES, CA) – In the interest of continuing the effort to restore public safety in Los Angeles County by recalling District Attorney George Gascon, victims and volunteer leaders from the original recall Gascon campaign have formed a new committee called Recall District Attorney George Gascon that will restart the petition gathering effort and timeline.

While the original effort navigated through pandemic mandates and a premature start, it motivated thousands of people that gathered hundreds of thousands of signatures.  The reset will allow Recall District Attorney George Gascon to gather necessary financial resources prior to starting the 160-day period for signature collection, rather than play catch up. The committee will be filing an updated petition with the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters shortly.  The new committee website is located at RecallDAGeorgeGascon.com.

Victims and volunteer leaders that have been central to this recall effort agree unanimously that with strong organization and resources, George Gascon will be recalled.  Recent polling conducted in late July by J. Wallin Opinion Research shows that DA George Gascon has high unfavorability ratings from Los Angeles County voters and more than 61% of LA County voters want a DA change.

The incredible effort by thousands of volunteers gathering hundreds of thousands of signatures during the last few months has been nothing short of amazing and is a sign of what’s to come. This reset will put all that work to great use, and it is invaluable to the recall effort moving forward.  Make no mistake, this is not a white flag – it is a double down on our efforts.

The fact remains that Los Angeles DA George Gascon has turned his back on victims and lost the confidence of his fellow prosecutors and cities within his jurisdiction – including 30 cities that have now voted “No Confidence” in the District Attorney. When this recall ultimately qualifies, polling shows that Gascon stands no chance at the ballot box because Los Angeles County residents have had enough.

This committee understands its ultimate responsibility is to the victims and volunteers who are fighting for justice and public safety in Los Angeles County and will not stop until George Gascon is held accountable.
