(Washington, DC) — A new poll says the vast majority of Americans approve of interracial marriage. The survey from Gallup revealed that number sits at 94-percent. Gallup began asking the question in 1958 when just four-percent said they agreed it was fine that people of different races got married. The Supreme Court legalized interracial marriage almost a decade later.
As for how different races see the issue, it’s about even. White Americans’ approval of interracial marriage sits at 93-percent while 96-percent of non-white Americans believe it’s acceptable.
