(Washington, DC) — The U.S. State Department is in contact with the remaining thousand American citizens still stranded in Afghanistan. According to officials, roughly two-thirds of those people are actively trying to leave the country, while another 500 have been evacuated in the last 24 hours. The 15-hundred U.S. nationals represent the last of the six-thousand Americans that Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said were left behind when the evacuation from Afghanistan began less than two weeks ago.

(Washington, DC) — The White House admits “not every single” Afghan who wants to leave the country will be able to. Following the death of twelve American servicemembers in ISIS-K suicide bombings in Kabul, Press Secretary Jen Psaki [[ told reporters it is not possible with the conditions on the ground. Psaki said the President is not moving his August 31st deadline to pullout. Psaki said President Biden has ordered flags lowered to half staff at public buildings around the country.
