Taliban Spokesman Says The War In Afghanistan Is Over

(Kabul) — A spokesman for the Taliban says the war in Afghanistan is over. Mohammad Naeem told Al-Jazeera it will be clear what type and form the regime will take soon. He said they have opened discussions with all Afghan figures and will guarantee them necessary protection. Taliban insurgents entered the nation’s capital soon after President Ashraf Ghani left the country. The Taliban is taking over a country it fought U.S. troops for nearly two decades. He said he doubts any foreign forces will repeat the failed experience in Afghanistan again.

Fort Bragg’s Sending Five Thousand Members Of 82nd Airborne Division

(Fort Bragg, NC) — Fort Bragg’s 82nd Airborne Division is sending five thousand troops to Afghanistan. The Pentagon says the North Carolina service members will not engage in combat rather help remove Americans from the U.S. embassy as the Taliban exerts more control of Afghan land. Mark Velazco, who served with the division in the 80s, says the decision to send more troops is a Catch 22. This comes after President Biden announced plans to withdraw the remaining American troops within the next couple of months. Velazco explained while he thinks it’s a good thing that America is pulling its troops out of the country, he says seeing what the Taliban is doing makes him think twice. He did say that he believes the 82nd Airborne Division is a good unit to send.

(Wichita, KS) — Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says the U.S. should be putting pressure on the Taliban in Afghanistan. Speaking on Fox News Sunday, Pompeo says if he was still in office with former President Trump, this would have never happened because there would have been retaliations for the Taliban’s actions. The former top diplomat said although he agreed to work along side the Taliban to fight against Al-Qaeda, the U.S. government never trusted them. Pompeo said recent comments by Biden about Trumps’ role in the current situation is blame shifting and is getting nothing done. He added that President Biden has failed in protecting the American people
