(Los Angeles, CA) — Lakers’ superstar LeBron James is apologizing for his now-deleted tweet calling out the Columbus, Ohio, police officer who shot and killed 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant. Last month, James tweeted “you’re next!” with a picture of the officer and the hashtag “accountability.” That happened on April 22nd. Wednesday, LeBron tweeted an apology, saying he “fueled the wrong conversation” and owes it to Bryant to change it. He also included a link to a Vox article that explores the social and historical context of the shooting.
