(San Antonio, TX) — The feds are moving to ban menthol cigarettes, but experts say kicking the habit will not be easy. Jennifer Cofer, director of the End Tobacco Program at MD Anderson Cancer Center, says it has to do with the additives. Menthol flavor was added to reduce the harshness of cigarette smoke in the mouth and throat. She says because of that menthol cigarettes are much more addictive than regular cigarettes. The menthol brands are especially popular with teens and African-Americans.
