Albany NY Police Clash With Encamped BLM Protesters

(Albany, NY) — Police in Albany, New York, are retaking the area surrounding the city’s police station after Black Lives Matter protesters had been camped out for nearly a week. It was just past 3 this afternoon when police officers told the group they had 15 minutes to disperse, before then taking action and removing the group and their tents. The protesters are reportedly demanding the firing of several officers and they’re demanding Mayor Kathy Sheehan and Chief Eric Hawkins step down. Their demands follow a confrontation this past Wednesday during a BLM rally when protesters climbed railings and broke a window, prompting cops to use pepper spray.
Officers were forced to clear out the South Station area, where protesters had encamped for nearly a week.
