(San Antonio, TX) — “Lonesome Dove” author Larry McMurtry is dead at the age of 84. He grew up in a small North Texas town to a family of ranchers and went on to write 46 books. Several of McMurtry’s books became films, including “Terms of Endearment” and “The Last Picture Show,” with both winning Oscars. “Lonesome Dove” was made into a hugely popular TV miniseries. In 2015, President Obama awarded him the National Humanities Medal.
