(Columbia, SC) — Two South Carolina residents are infected with the highly transmissible South African coronavirus strain. State officials would not release their identities, but did say both haven’t traveled recently. The state Department of Health said they are both adults. Three COVID-19 “variants of concern” are spreading across the globe and all of them have now been detected in the U.S.
