Pride Flags To Return To Embassies If Secretary Blinken Confirmed

(Washington, DC) — The nominee to be President Biden’s Secretary of State is vowing to allow U.S. embassies to fly Pride flags again if confirmed. Antony Blinken made the promise during a Senate confirmation hearing Tuesday. The policy change would be a reversal from a Trump administration policy. Blinken also says he will name an envoy for L-G-B-T-Q-I rights, saying “This is a matter of some real urgency.” He says violence against L-G-B-T-Q-I people has been going up around the world.

Rocklin Highs School Student Faces Disciplinary Action Over Confederate Flag Display

(Rocklin, CA) — A high school student in Rocklin faces disciplinary action over the Confederate flag. On Wednesday, a student at Whitney High School reportedly displayed the Stars and Bars on a vehicle. School principal Justin Cutts said the student violated the district’s policy on free speech. He added that the Confederate flag goes against the district’s “legal obligation to ensure a non-discriminatory and non-harassing environment.” While the flag is viewed by some as part of Southern heritage, the Anti-Defamation League notes that it often serves as a symbol of slavery and segregation.
