(Huntington Beach, CA) — An Orange County couple is launching a fundraiser to help struggling restaurant workers during the pandemic. Owners of Slapfish, Andrew and Lauren Gruel, have already raised more than 293-thousand-dollars towards their one-million-dollar goal. Their grassroots fundraiser called “86 Restaurant Struggle” is giving out money in amounts of 601-dollars — one-dollar more than the government — and up to 25-hundred-dollars. Any restaurant worker who has had their hours cut or been laid off can apply to receive funds. People wanting to donate to their effort can go to 86-struggle-dot-com.
