Short History Of Capitol Violence

(Undated) — While the violent events at the Capitol might seem unfamiliar, it’s not unprecedented. One instance can be dated back to 1814 when British troops stormed Washington and burned multiple buildings. The U.S. Capitol and President’s Mansion were among those set aflame in the invasion. In 1983, a bombing took place at the Capitol in response to U.S. military actions in Grenada and Lebanon. Even though the explosion was very damaging to part of the building, no was killed in the blast.
