Wisconsin Prosecutors Will Not Charge Officer , or Jacob Blake In Jacob Blake Shooting

(Kenosha, WI) — Prosecutors in Wisconsin will not charge the officer involved in the Jacob Blake shooting that left the Black man paralyzed. Officer Rusten Sheskey shot Blake seven times in the back as he tried to enter his SUV. District Attorney Mike Graveley said no Kenosha law enforcement officer will be charged with any criminal offense based on the facts and the law. He added that no charge will be filed against Jacob Blake in this incident as well. Graveley said their decision was based on a review of more than 40-hours of squad video and more than two-hundred reports.

Blake’s three sons were in the car at the time. Published reports say Police were responding to a reported domestic incident after a woman called saying, “Her boyfriend was present and was not supposed to be on the premises” according to abcnews.com. Some witnesses said Blake was trying to break up a fight between two women when officers approached him- and that he resisted police attempts to arrest him. Wisconsin officials called out the National Guard in case there are protests over the decision to charge Sheskey.
