(Kenosha, WI) — The city of Kenosha is bracing for a charging decision in the police shooting of Jacob Blake last August. The mayor’s office said Sunday the top priority is protecting public safety while preparing for peaceful demonstrations. Blake, who is Black, was shot in the back as he walked away from a white police officer who was trying to arrest him. Video of the shooting sparked large protests and resulted in millions of dollars in damage in the Wisconsin city. The Kenosha DA is expected to announce possible charges against Officer Rusten Sheskey within the next two weeks.
