(Los Angeles, CA) — The actor who portrayed Squiggy on the hit 1970s show Laverne and Shirley is dead due to complications from multiple sclerosis. David Lander was 73. He had worked closely with the Multiple Sclerosis Society since he went public with his diagnosis in 1999. He was a longtime collaborator with Michael McKean, who played Lenny on the show. Both were students at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. He also made appearances on “Twin Peaks,” “Happy Days,” “Barney Miller,” “The Bob Newhart Show,” and had a small but memorable part in the film “A League of Their Own.”
