(Washington, DC) — Senator Diane Feinstein will step down as the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee in 2021. The 87-year-old California Democrat said she intends to remain on the committee. She caught the ire of progressives when she praised Republican chair Lindsey Graham for his handling of the Amy Coney Barrett Supreme Court confirmation hearings. It’s still unclear which party will be in power in 2021 as there are two runoffs in Georgia. Feinstein won re-election to a six-year term in 2018 that runs until 2024.
