(Los Angeles, CA) — The Los Angeles Convention Center may soon become a makeshift homeless shelter. City Councilman Curren Price introduced a motion on Tuesday, and says it would be a way to keep hundreds of homeless people safe from both coronavirus and the cold weather. The city will soon study the impacts of making the move, and the council is expected to vote on it later this year. Last night, L.A.’s Department of Convention Tourism listed several concerns, including costs. The city would also likely have to break contracts with event organizers that rented out the convention center for the future.
