(Pasadena, CA) — Gun rights advocates are cheering Friday’s ruling by a federal appeals court, overturning California’s ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines. Sitting in Pasadena, a panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals voted two-to-one to uphold a previous decision by a San Diego federal judge, striking down a state law banning magazines that hold ten or more rounds. The California Rifle and Pistol Association sued state Attorney General Xavier Becerra over the ban. In a statement, the association hails the Ninth Circuit decision as “a major victory for the Second Amendment.”

(San Francisco, CA) — The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ended the ban on high-capacity gun magazines in California. A three-judge panel threw out the ban saying the law violates the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment of the right to bear firearms. California Attorney General Xavier Becerra has not said if he intends to challenge the ruling.
