(Los Angeles, CA) — Hundreds of thousands of prescription pills may soon hit the streets after the recent riots in Los Angeles and Riverside Counties. The Drug Enforcement Agency says that nearly 200 pharmacies were targeted during the civil unrest. Agents say that they have only collected information on about a third of the pharmacies hit, and they’ve already counted half a million missing doses of powerful controlled substances including oxycodone. The DEA fears people will buy the stolen drugs on the streets and may overdose because they are unsure of exactly what and how much they are taking.
