A 75-acre brush fire burning in San Bernardino County is now 30 percent contained. But the power is still shut off for over seven-thousand homes and much of Highway 18 remains closed.

The flames exploded just before two a.m. near where Highway 18 climbs into the San Bernardino mountain toward Crestline. Hot, dry Santa Ana winds are keeping firefighters on their toes. Zach Behrens from the San Bernardino National Forest tells KTLA 5 it’s a dangerous mix.

”All the elements that bring together a red flag warning are coming up now. So, you’ve got the winds, you’ve got the heat, you’ve got the single-digit or teen humidity levels.”

Those conditions are expected to last through Friday afternoon. And that high fire danger extends across Southern California.
