That’s according to a report in the “L-A Times.”  Lithium batteries have been known to burst into flames without warning.  Greg Less, a battery expert from the Energy Institute at the University of Michigan, says the internal components in a lithium battery are under a lot of pressure and if something goes wrong, the temperature can rise to more than 700 degrees.
