(Los Angeles, CA) — The Los Angeles Police Department is hoping to make drones part of their crime fighting arsenal.
The LAPD recently completely the department’s year-long pilot program testing the drones. Today Chief Michel Moore will present the police commission with a report based on the program. Moore has called the unmanned aircraft a valuable de-escalation tool and the drones are a helpful tool when shutting down a neighborhood for an investigation or some sort of standoff situation. Critics say the drones can be used to invade people’s privacy.
